Whether you’re a makeup obsessive or a makeup beginner, it’s crucial to have essentials in your kit that allow you to create your go-to everyday look. Once you have the basics, you will be able to play around with different looks. It’s not so important how much makeup you have, more so that you select the right essentials to work with!
This list is perfect for anyone creating a beginners set of makeup. To make it easier the list is divided into three parts: face, eyes, and lips.

Skincare – Having a good daily skin care routine before applying makeup is always very important, it ensures a fresh and clean canvas for your makeup. Using a moisturiser will ensure that your skin is well hydrated to help prevent your skin drying out under your foundation.

Concealer and Corrector – Choose a creamy formula that can hide under-eye circles, cover blemishes and correct discolouration. To brighten, choose a shade slightly lighter than your skin tone. Beware of using a shade too light to conceal though – you may end up accidentally highlighting your blemishes!

Blush, Bronzer and Highlighter – Applying bronzer gives your skin a healthy, sun-kissed look without the damages of sun tanning. Using a blush on your cheeks gives a healthy glow. You can also use bronzer and contouring products to slim your face and sculpt your nose – check out YouTube if you’re new to the contouring game, there are some amazing tutorials out there. Highlighting will add radiance and a stunning glow to the high points of the face, such as the cheek and brow bones.

[title text=”Eyes” style=”bold”]
Eyeshadow – For your basic makeup kit, it’s a good idea to have some natural brown, taupe and off-white eyeshadow shades. These shades are perfect for creating and everyday neutral look. Deep greys are great for creating a smoky eye for the evening. Don’t be afraid to experiment though, we’re big fans of purple and deep burgundy shades here at Beauty Bliss.
It’s really important to get some great eyeshadow brushes too, those little sponges sometimes found in palettes often don’t do the shadow justice.

Eyeliner – Eyeliner can be applied in many ways to define your eyes. People commonly use a liquid eyeliner on the top and then a pencil on the bottom line – experiment and see what works for you.

[title text=”Lips” style=”bold”]
Lip Balm – A great balm does wonders for keeping your lips smooth and healthy, especially during those harsh winter months. It’s an absolute essential if you’re using a matte lipstick or lipstain to help prevent the product from drying out your lips and causing flaking.

Lipstick – Lips are an area where you can have a bit more fun as a beginner since it doesn’t take much expertise to apply a lipstick. Choose a bright red for a classic evening look or a simple nude for everyday wear. Matte liquid lipsticks are great too and can last all day, just make sure you apply a lip balm first.
