#Hydration Hacks: Travel Edition

As we head into the cooler months of the year many of us start day dreaming about chasing that summer sun and some of us do chase it. Whether it’s just a weekend trip to Aussie or one of the many islands gracing the Pacific Ocean. Maybe you’re in it for the long haul and jetting off to somewhere like Europe. I have some tips to keep your skin looking and feeling hydrated so you get off that plane feeling like the 10/10 that you are!

#1: Drink That Water

This first hack is the most important one and will make the others nearly pointless if you don’t do it. DRINK THAT WATER! The average human body is approximately 50-65% water, your skin is also the largest organ of the human body so staying hydrated is going to have the greatest impact on your skin. If a flight attendant offers you water, you take that water! Try and take a bottle of water on board with you as well, just make sure you follow airport regulations.

Whenever I travel I ALWAYS take some skincare essentials on board with me. When my bottles are too big to take on board I’ll try and get a travel sizes or even a sample size so i can take them with me.

#2: Get Spick and Span

Before I even leave the house I always make sure my skin is as clean as possible. The dry, air conditioned air and inevitable travel stress paired with makeup can create the perfect environment for breakouts and acne. I also find that the longer my trip is (and the more naps i take) the worse my makeup looks at the end.

To make sure my skin is spick and span I like to use a fairly gentle cleanser that doesn’t strip away all of my naturally occurring oils.

At the moment I’m using the Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser. It’s a creamy three-in-one cleanser that’s gentle and safe enough to use over the eye area. It’s also rich in Vitamin E and Aloe Vera, so not only does it cleanse my skin but it also helps to balance my skins pH (hence the name).

#3: Stay Moisturised

The next product i like to apply is a moisturiser that is on the slightly thicker side consistency wise but doesn’t feel heavy on my skin. One I’ve tried recently that I love is another product from Alpha-H and that’s their Essential Hydration Cream.

It’s high in essential fatty acids and essential oils that help to soothe and heal the skin. The antioxidants also help neutralise free radicals and help to promote a healthy complexion. The non-glycolic formula is also great for those of you who have sensitive skin and broken capillaries.

Alpha-H also have a couple of packs that this comes in as well which is a great way to get a handbag size of this amazing product and also try a few more of their products.

#4: Oil Up

Next i like to slather on some oil. At moment I’m really loving the Pixi Rose Oil Blend. It’s a really nice light oil that’s infused with sweet almond, rosehip, jojoba, pomegranate seed and rose geranium oils meaning it is super nourishing. It leaves my skin feeling smooth, not heavy and congested like some other oils.

Remember, oil can penetrate through moisturiser but moisturiser cannot penetrate through oil.

#5: Eye Time

Another product I like to use when travelling is an eye cream or serum. The Pixi 24K Eye Elixir is a great one because of its super cute and practical rollerball applicator. The 24K Eye Elixir is an anti-fatigue peptide serum that massages away puffiness with its cooling rollerball that smoothes and refreshes the eye area.

#6: Pucker Up

My final must use product is lip balm. I have been loving the Hurraw balms ever since i first tried them. The Moon Balm is one of their most moisturising formulas yet! Packed with avocado oil, rosehip seed oil, meadowfoam seed oil, and argan oil it’s high in Vitamins A and E. Its thick and creamy and has some serious staying power which is perfect for those mid journey naps.

Before my flight begins descending I also like to splash some cold water on my face and reapply all my skin goodies. Make sure you reapply lip balm regularly and also reapply eye cream/serum, moisturiser and oil when you feel your skin starting to dry out and feel tight.

Safe travels everyone, may you get there feeling like a 10/10.

Until next time,

Courtney xx
